T.L.O was accused of smoking in the girl's bathroom at school. The principal talk to her about, and then searched her bag finding drugs in it
The Court ruled 6 votes for New Jersey, 3 votes against. The Court didn't follow the requirement that it must be a probable cause. Since their rolling papers in the girl's purse that gave the principal the right to search through her purse. In school as long as it is a reasonable suspicion then its okay to search.
