Pennslyvania and Rhode Island was giving money to school that taught about religion.
The Court ruled 8 votes for Lemon, 0 against. This case provided a 3 part Lemon Test to make this okay. The three were (1) it must have a secular legislative purpose, (2) it must have principal effects which neither advance nor inhibit religion, and (3) it must not foster an excessive government entanglement with religion.
